For KFI Studios, NeoCon 2023 focused on sustainability and PET felt.
Sustainability plays an ever important role in the contract furniture industry and we strive to be a positive catalyst for change. At NeoCon, we focused on our use of PET felt as a sustainable material for the making of two of our eco-friendly products. We created a beautiful exhibit, designed by LAYER, on the 1st floor of The Mart, to feature our new Vale seating collection, also designed by LAYER, and the Jade task chair, designed by Union Design. Attendees of NeoCon were able to walk through the exhibit and immerse themselves in a world of PET felt petals while exploring our new seating.
Vale is a seating line with an organically curved seat used throughout to create a harmonious aesthetic. The seat is made from PET felt with recycled plastic bottles and the frame is durable steel, both of which are long lasting and recyclable.
Jade is a task chair designed to differentiate itself from other task chairs. The main goal was to eliminate the use of virgin plastic. In its place, PET felt made from recycled plastic bottles was used, specifically for the back cover, seat pan, and arm pads. Jade also uses REPREVE® 3D polyester knit made from recycled plastic bottles. This eliminates textile waste that traditional upholstery is known for.
The Vale collection took home two awards! First, it was announced that it received the MetropolisLikes award. This recognition honors our commitment to product design with a positive impact on the planet. Then, it went on to receive the distinct honor of a Silver Best of NeoCon for the Stools category.
You could also find Vale and Jade at the Metropolis Magazine Sustainability Lab with other like-minded sustainable companies.
Our showroom was buzzing with activity! Attendees were able to experience our new products in person, getting an up close look and feel of our seating and tables, and seeing our finishes and materials in real life. We also had Benjamin Hubert of LAYER on hand to answer questions about the new Vale collection. And let’s not forget about the quintessential Kentucky bourbon tasting where people were able to sample some of the most popular bourbons.
