SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainable Practices

We make our furniture with the goal of giving people an inspiring and healthy environment where they can live and work. The same is also true for our planet. We continually make efforts to reduce our impact on the environment and improve our conservation efforts across all aspect of our manufacturing. We’ve made enhancements to reduce our energy usage including implementing LED lighting and upgrading to battery operated forklifts and pallet jacks. We recycle our cardboard, metal, and scrap pallets for repurposing. These small steps are only the start of our future sustainability goals. With incremental improvements over time, the sustainability of our manufacturing processes and our company will only get better.

Products Designed to Last

We want our products to be around for as long as possible. After all, reduce comes first. Our furniture is designed to last and built with durable materials to withstand the impacts of daily use. And we have a warranty that backs it up. Plus, our designs aren’t based on trends or the latest fads. We design products that will remain timeless as styles come and go.

MATERIALS

When making our products, we choose durable materials that we can confidently say will have a long-lasting life. But we also think carefully about choosing materials that reduce environmental impact. We take into consideration if a material is easily recyclable, made from recycled material, or comes from a renewable source.

PET Felt

PET felt uniquely takes the characteristics of plastic and combines it with the look of felt. It is created using post-consumer recycled plastics taken out of the waste stream. This recycled plastic is then shredded, felted into a fabric, and heated and pressed into final forms. The final product uses little to no virgin plastic. The PET felt uses less resources than traditional injection molded plastic and can also be recycled after its useful life.

3D Knit Technology

3D knit is revolutionary for upholstery. This unique digital process uses CNC programming to knit and shape one custom piece of seamless textile from yarn. Environmentally, this means there is minimal waste created. For even more sustainability, our 3D knit is made from 100% REPREVE® recycled polyester.

Textiles

We partner with textile manufacturers who share the same values of sustainability as us. The textile manufacturers we work with take environmental considerations in the making of their textiles. Plus, a large selection of our graded-in upholstery includes options with recycled content. In fact, our Umage lounge chairs feature 100% recycled polyester upholstery, made from recycled plastic bottles. We also participate in the IIDA Zero Landfill program to help divert upholstery waste from the landfill.
